I thoroughly enjoyed the courses run by Debbie at Garage Cafe.
It was very much a non-threatening art experience which you could take at your own pace and in your own way.
If you wanted direct instruction or help Debbie was always on hand but if you just wanted the time and space to focus on art you could do that too.
I felt very comfortable and really found the whole experience very good for my well being. It is also a lovely venue right in the middle of town with excellent coffee and lovely staff. If you are unsure I would say do go along and give it a try...

I was a complete beginner before joining Debbie's class, but have learnt such a lot in just 4 weeks. Debbie has a friendly and encouraging teaching style, and gives very clear instructions. It was such a lovely and relaxed way to learn and with a friendly and supportive group.

A really enjoyable time , a relaxed space, friendly group and lots of positive and helpful support from Debbie. There was space to explore different mediums, and practise drawing or painting the human body in motion. Altogether a great experience!

On Friday mornings we climbed the narrow stairs of garage coffee shop and there Debbie would greet us with a smile and an assortment of fruit, vegetables, and other goods. We started with hatching and stippling and worked through different types of paper and techniques. After the fourth week Debbie bound all of it together into a sketchbook, with extra sheets for further practice. I won’t be exhibiting any drawings soon, but will take with me a new understanding of pears and fond memories of playing with colours in good company, and hope to return sometime!

I had a really lovely day thank you & the day was just what I wanted...relaxation and mindfulness. The weather and the venue were super too. I have finished my canvas since I got home & I am pleased with it.

It was a most enjoyable day and gave us all the chance to stop, slow down and find for ourselves the patterns, structures and beauty of the Cathedral grounds all around us. Debbie has an empathetic and professional approach to her art guidance and leadership which enabled me to feel safe within the group and learn to use the water colours more effectively. It made me feel that I would either repeat such a day or drop in to one of the Friday sessions.
