When you wish upon a star... ✨

Now that Christmas has been and gone, it's time to start dreaming! Here at Cygnini HQ we are busy dreaming up crafts and events to get 2021 off to a great start! 🎉

But while you wait for the first event in January, why not keep those little fingers busy for an hour with our "Wish upon a star" make? 🌟

Here's what you need:

• Card (I used an old cereal box, but old Christmas cards will also work!)

• The clear window from an envelope or two...

• Some glitter/sequins/glitter card/anything sparkly!

• A hole punch (if making your own sparkles).

• Scissors.

• Craft glue.

• Colour and writing pens.

• A small and large star template (I used my cookie cutters, but you can print a star shape or draw one too!).

How to make your own "wishing star 🌟

Draw a star, using your template, onto your card.

Using your smaller template, draw a star in the centre of the large one.

Repeat to make another star.

Cut the stars out. Cutting from point of the star to the centre helps.

To cut out the centre, first make a hole. I used a metal skewer and push it into blu tac behind.

Cut from the centre to each point.

Cut each point out, cutting towards the point each time.

Decorate the outside of your stars 🌟

Use the small star as a template to draw onto your clear window and then cut it out a bit bigger than the drawing. Repeat.

Stick the clear window onto the inside of one star.

Add some sparkles (make your own using glitter card and a hole punch!).

Glue the second window on top of the first, with your sparkles sandwiched between. If you would like to hang your star, add some ribbon or thread to it before gluing together.

Finally glue your second star on top of the first, face up. Make sure to put some drops of glue on the points of the clear star too. Don't worry if the stars don't fit together perfectly. You can trim them once they are dry.

Once completely dry, you can write your wish, hope or dream onto your star as a reminder throughout the year 😃
